Kolkata, May 7 (Hindustan Reporter) Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) charter flight was diverted to Guwahati due to bad weather in Kolkata on Monday evening.
Shreyas Iyer-led KKR team was on its way back to Kolkata after defeating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 98 runs in an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday.
KKR gave the travel update on their official X (formerly Twitter) account and wrote that they are currently standing on the tarmac of Guwahati airport.
KKR wrote on Twitter, “Travel Update: Due to bad weather, KKR charter flight from Lucknow to Kolkata was diverted to Guwahati. The flight is currently parked on the tarmac of Guwahati airport. “More updates will be given soon.”
The Kolkata-based franchise will take on Mumbai Indians (MI) in their upcoming match in IPL 2024 at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday.
Talking about the match between Lucknow and Kolkata, in this match LSG won the toss and opted to field first. Apart from Narine's 81 runs, Phil Salt (32 runs in 14 balls, five fours and one six), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (32 runs in 26 balls, three fours, one six) and Ramandeep Singh (25* runs in six balls, one four) And three sixes), KKR scored 235 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs.
For LSG, Naveen-ul-Haq took 3 wickets and Yash Thakur, Ravi Bishnoi and Yudhveer Singh got one wicket each.
While chasing the target of 236 runs, Lucknow lost wickets at regular intervals. Marcus Stoinis (36 runs in 21 balls, four fours and two sixes) and captain KL Rahul (25 runs in 21 balls, three fours) were the top scorers for LSG, due to which the team was bundled out for 137 runs in 16.1 overs.
Harshit Rana and Varun Chakraborty took 3 wickets each for KKR.
