Kishanganj, 16 April (Hindus). The mining department in the district has collected revenue of Rs 36 crore in the financial year 2023-24. This includes revenue received from brick kiln, sand, amount received from the works department, fine, soil and other amounts.
Permission has been given to start five units of sand ghat in the district. Out of which only two units are operational at present. If all the units become operational then the revenue of the mining department will increase further. According to the data received from the Mining Department, in the financial year 2023-24, the revenue received from brick was Rs 197.42 lakh, from sand Rs 711.43 lakh, from works department Rs 1497.44 lakh, from fine Rs 490.67 lakh, from soil Rs 436.8 lakh and from other sources Rs 7.80 lakh and illegal mining. A total revenue of Rs 35 crore 97 lakh 9 thousand including Rs 256.34 lakh has been received from others.
Sand is lifted through sand sensors from the sand ghats located on the banks of Mahananda, Dok, Kankai, Chenga and Ratua rivers in the district. Every year there is a tender for these ghats. Due to which the department earns revenue. Apart from this, about 168 brick kilns are operating in the district. Due to which the mining department earns revenue. At present all the brick kilns in the district are running as per the standards of NGT. Five brick kilns operating without CTO (Consent to Operate) which did not comply with the standards have been closed in the financial year 2022-23. These brick kilns were closed on the instructions of the Pollution Control Board. To operate a brick kiln, it is necessary to have NOC from Pollution Control Board as well as CTO.
