Mirzapur, 3 September (HS). Kisan Diwas was organized in the auditorium of Vikas Bhavan on Tuesday under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan. District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan heard the problems of the farmers block-wise and directed the concerned officials to pay attention to the problems on priority and resolve them within the time limit and provide a report.
Deputy Agriculture Director Vikas Kumar Patel read out the previous proceedings related to Kisan Diwas and also told about the solutions to the problems of the farmers present. District Vice President and District President of Foodgrains Distribution Committee E. BD Singh said that due to the commissioning of Meja Jargo Link Channel of Baansagar Project, the utility of Kota canal operated by Sirsi Dam Canal Block has ended. It was suggested that Kota canal should be closed completely at 1.65 kilometer. Similarly, the roads from Mallar Mod of Dubar Kala on Lalganj Kalwari Road to Barsagar Meja Jargo Link Canal have become very damaged, these should be repaired.
District President of Kisan Union, Kanchan Singh Fauji said that irrigation is being done due to completion of pipeline work near Dhuriya Minor Varanasi Shaktinagar road coming out of the main canal under irrigation section Chunar. The service track is damaged for about 3 kilometers. The people of village Baradih, Chhotaipurva, Chitvishram, Ahraura Deeh, farmers, laborers and students of 20-25 villages face a lot of trouble in going to Ahraura Inter College for studies. The service track should be paved.
Mandal President Bharatiya Kisan Union Lokshakti, Vindhyachal Mandal Ali Zameer Khan said that almost 50 years have passed since the expansion of Patharora Minor related to Jargo Dam. Their Pansal should be increased so that irrigation can be done till the tail. Potato cultivation was done in the Dhaba area and Kriyat area of Tehsil Chunar. But due to the closure of the cooperative cold storage, potato cultivation is also on the verge of closure. The cold storage should be started. During this, apart from Chief Development Officer Vishal Kumar, farmers from the development blocks of the district as well as district level officers of agriculture, animal husbandry, horticulture, cooperation, electricity, irrigation and other agriculture related departments were present.
