Jagdalpur, July 3 (HS). BJP State President and MLA Kiran Dev said that Shaheed Mahendra Karma University has received a grant of 100 crores for multi-disciplinary university under the Prime Minister Usha Yojana. For this, teaching and research of new subjects will be required in the university, due to which, for the quality of research here, the Chhattisgarh government had made a provision in this year's budget for the university to run 20 new departments and 33 new courses. Earlier, 14 courses were being run in 10 departments here. He said that we are fully committed to the development of the university. A special request was made to the Union Education Minister by meeting him for the development of the university.

Kiran Dev said that from the new session, graduation and post graduation studies will start in subjects like Commerce, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Zoology, Economics, Geography, Hindi, History, Psychology and Sociology. Along with this, in the series of providing employment oriented education in this area, studies of B.Lib and M.Lib in Library Science will also start. Till now, students of the region had to go to Raipur or Bilaspur to do this course, but with the start of this course here, students will be facilitated. MLA Dev said that our government is serious about the ease and quality of higher education in the education of Bastar region. Earlier also our government had established Bastar University in the region and even today our government is serious about the upgradation of this university. In this series, with the efforts of the government, the university is creating new dimensions of education.
