Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Bhutan. On Friday he reached Tashicho Dzong Palace in the capital Thimphu. He was formally welcomed here. During this time he met King Jigme Wangchuk of Bhutan. Earlier, Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay welcomed him with a hug at Paro airport. Tobaghe told Modi, “You are welcome, my elder brother.”
After being honored with the 'highest civilian honour' by the King of Bhutan, PM Modi said, “Today is a big day in my life as an Indian, you have honored me with Bhutan's highest national award. PM Modi has reached Bhutan on the invitation of Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay. Prime Minister Tobaghie visited India for 5 days (14-18 March). During this, he invited Modi to visit Bhutan. This was his first foreign trip after becoming PM in January 2024. During the visit Tobagi met President Draupadi Murmu and PM Modi. Also participated in many programs.
