What did kidney specialist Dr. Puneet Gupta say?
Which habits can harm the kidneys? We spoke to Dr. Punit Gupta. Punit Gupta is a kidney specialist at Sharda Hospital in Greater Noida. He told us five such habits which not only harm the kidneys but also increase the chances of their damage.

These habits can harm the kidneys

1. Drinking less water:
If you also drink less water, then improve this habit soon. You should drink at least 15 glasses of water a day, because the functioning of the kidney depends largely on water intake. If you drink less water, it has a very bad effect on the kidneys, because water plays a major role in cleaning the blood and removing waste materials from the body and this work is done by the kidneys.

2. Consuming too much salt:
If you also consume more salt than required, then change this habit, because those who consume more salt are themselves responsible for damaging their kidneys. Consuming more salt increases sodium in the body, which affects blood pressure. It also has a deep impact on the kidneys. Doctors advise not to consume more than 5 grams of salt per day.

3. Smoking and tobacco consumption:
If you also smoke and consume tobacco, then quit it completely. Because their consumption also causes atherosclerosis, which slows down the blood flow in the blood vessels and due to less blood, the functioning of the kidney decreases.

4. Holding Urine for a Long Time:
Many people hold urine for a long time. By doing this, the bladder remains filled with urine for many hours and holding it for a long time causes serious damage to the kidneys in the future. So, when you feel like urinating, leave all your work and go to urinate.

5. Excessive consumption of painkillers:
Many people take painkillers for even a little pain, which is very harmful for the body and kidneys. This habit can also harm your kidneys. In such a situation, avoid buying medicines without consulting a doctor.
