Kolkata, July 8 (HS). Police have arrested four people including a couple on charges of kidnapping and demanding ransom by trapping a girl in love through a dating app in Kolkata. According to information given by the police on Monday, a young man from Patuli met a girl on a dating app. On Sunday, the girl called the young man to a flat in Golfgreen area. There he was held hostage and a ransom of one lakh rupees was demanded. The young man informed his family about this by calling them, after which the family lodged a complaint of kidnapping in the police station.
Taking immediate action, the police arrested the main accused Saikat Pal and Babusona Mandal from the NSC Road area. After interrogating them, the police also arrested Babusona's wife Anisha Das and Peter D'Cruz from the flat. The youth has been rescued safely. Initial investigation has revealed that the flat in which the youth was held hostage belongs to Sukant. The gang was extorting money by setting up a love trap on dating apps. The police is investigating the matter in depth to gather more information.
