Rupnagar: White City will soon be built in Sri Anandpur Sahib, the birthplace of Khalsa, at a cost of Rs 25 crore. These words were expressed by Education and Public Relations Minister Harjot Singh Bains while talking to journalists after the swearing-in ceremony of the district level Panch at the local police line, Rupnagar.
He said that tenders are being called soon to build a four-lane road from Sri Kiratpur Sahib to Nangal as road accidents are continuously increasing on this road and many precious lives have been lost. Minister Bains said that the Punjab government is working on a large scale for tourism, but due to the lax functioning of the central government, many works are stalled. He said that World Century Center and Nature Park have been built in Nangal at a cost of Rs 100 crore and Turban Museum will also be built soon. He said that the work of Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s heritage post in Rupnagar has been done by MLA Dinesh Chadha at a cost of Rs 2 crore and work is being done on other heritage and historical places.
Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that an appeal has been made to the District Panches that any Panchayat can become a successful Panchayat only when all the Panchayats unite and work diligently for the development of their villages. He said that the Panchayats have adequate powers for which soon the Sarpanches and Panches will be given training about their powers and functions, the first training will be given under the pilot project in Sri Anandpur Sahib Block. On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Himashu Jain, SSP Gulneet Singh Khurana, Chairman of Market Committee Shri Anandpur Sahib Kamikar Singh Dadhi, Media Coordinator of Minister Bains Deepak Soni and other leaders and officials were present.
