KGMU launches AMR awareness week with photo booth

Lucknow, 18 November (HS). As part of the global World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week 2024, King George’s Medical University has launched several awareness activities to combat antimicrobial resistance. This year’s theme, “Educate. Inspire. Act now.” Underlines the urgent need to tackle the growing threat of AMR.

Professor of Microbiology Department, Dr. Sheetal Verma informed that a pledge campaign and AMR-themed photo booth has been set up with the aim of spreading awareness among students, faculty and public community. These booths have been installed in OPD, Kalam Center and Trauma Center and will be open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM from 18th to 24th November.

Features of pledge campaign
All participants are encouraged to take a pledge for responsible use of antibiotics, avoid self-medication and promote better infection prevention practices. This pledge is available in both English and Hindi to make it accessible to all.

Features of Photo Booth:
The interactive photo booth is AMR-themed, including lab coats, face masks, and antibiotics-related props. Participants are encouraged to share their photos on social media platforms and spread the message using hashtags like #StopDrugResistance and #KGMUAgainstAMR.

“Through creative activities like these, we aim to make AMR awareness interesting and impactful for everyone,” said Professor Amita Jain, Head, Department of Microbiology.

KGMU urges all students, teachers and staff to actively participate and join the fight against AMR. Together we can contribute to preserving the effectiveness of antibiotics for future generations.
