Kejriwal's phone password could not be obtained from ED

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, arrested in the so-called liquor scam, is currently being intensively interrogated by ED officials. ED officials are interrogating the Aam Aadmi Party chief for about five hours daily. However, ED officials still could not gain access to his phone and digital devices. Kejriwal is being repeatedly asked to reveal the password but he is refusing every time. Meanwhile, ED officials have also approached Apple to unlock Kejriwal's phone. However, according to reports, Apple has also said that a password is required to access any data. It is noteworthy that on March 21, the night Kejriwal was arrested, the police had seized four phones from his house. Kejriwal's wife's phone was also confiscated.

Kejriwal had switched off the iPhone

On March 28, when the ED applied for extension of remand, it told the court that Kejriwal's wife's phone has been accessed and its data has been deleted but Kejriwal is not revealing the password of his phone. It is noteworthy that when the raid took place, Kejriwal had switched off his iPhone and has not yet told his password to the ED officials.

What is Kejriwal's argument?

Kejriwal's argument behind not giving the password of the iPhone is that by having access to the phone, ED will get data related to election strategy and pre-poll alliance. He has had this phone for a year and now he no longer has the device which he was using during the formulation of the liquor policy.
