New Delhi, 21 November (HS). Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Durgesh Pathak, Vijay Nair and BRS leader K, accused in the CBI-related case of Delhi Excise Scam. Kavita appeared in Rouse Avenue court on Thursday through video conferencing. Special Judge Kaveri Baweja has ordered the next hearing of the case on November 28.
Earlier on September 11, the court had ordered bail to Durgesh Pathak on a bail bond of Rs 1 lakh. On September 3, the court had taken cognizance of the supplementary charge sheet filed by the CBI against Kejriwal. On August 23, CBI had told the court that permission has been granted to prosecute Kejriwal. On July 10, the court took cognizance of the ED charge sheet and ordered Kejriwal to appear. On May 17, ED had filed the seventh supplementary charge sheet in which Aam Aadmi Party and Kejriwal have been made accused. So far 18 people have been arrested in this case. Those arrested include Kejriwal, Sisodia, MP Sanjay Singh, K. Contains poetry. In this case, the Supreme Court has granted regular bail to Kejriwal, Sanjay Singh, Sisodia and Kavita.
ED had arrested Kejriwal after questioning late evening on March 21. On May 10, the Supreme Court had granted interim bail to Kejriwal till June 1, after which Kejriwal surrendered on June 2. Kejriwal was arrested by CBI on June 26. ED had arrested Sanjay Singh on October 4 after questioning him at his official residence. ED had arrested Sisodia from Tihar Jail after interrogation in this case on March 9, 2023. Sisodia was earlier arrested by the CBI on 26 February 2023.
The ED had filed the sixth supplementary chargesheet on May 10 in which BRS leaders Kavita, Chanpreet Singh, Damodar Sharma, Prince Kumar, Arvind Singh have been named as accused. The court had taken cognizance of the sixth supplementary charge sheet on May 29. It is noteworthy that on August 27, the Supreme Court had granted bail to Kavita in the CBI and ED case. On September 13, the Supreme Court had granted regular bail to Kejriwal in the CBI case. Before that, on July 12, the Supreme Court had granted interim bail to Kejriwal in the ED case.
