Kejriwal did not get relief from Delhi High Court, ban on bail will continue

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal has suffered a major setback in the money laundering case related to the liquor scam. The High Court has not given him relief in this case. For now, his bail will remain suspended. The Delhi High Court has maintained the stay on bail. Now Kejriwal will remain in jail till the final decision of the High Court. There is a hearing in the Supreme Court tomorrow against the order of the High Court.

In this petition, the orders of Delhi Rouse Avenue Court have been challenged. Justice Sudhir Kumar Jain's bench will pronounce the verdict at 2:30 pm. On June 20, Rouse Avenue Court granted regular bail to Kejriwal in the money laundering case related to Delhi liquor scam. The very next day, ED opposed this decision and filed a petition against the decision in the High Court. The case was heard. After this, Delhi High Court stayed Kejriwal's bail. The High Court had said that the bail order of the trial court will remain suspended till the hearing of the case.

After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the Delhi High Court had reserved its decision on June 21. The High Court had said that we are reserving the order for 2-3 days. An interim stay is imposed on the order of the trial court till the verdict is pronounced. After this, Kejriwal approached the Supreme Court against the stay on bail. The apex court had asked to wait for the decision of the High Court. We will hear this matter on June 26.

However, ED has opposed granting bail to Kejriwal. ED said that the bail granted to Kejriwal by the lower court is illegal. In its reply filed in the High Court, ED has given 13 statements of hawala operators and AAP workers of Goa as evidence.

The ED said that the lower court gave its verdict ignoring the evidence and facts placed before the court. According to Section 45 of PMLA, it is illegal for the ED not to get an opportunity to present its case.

Along with this, Arvind Kejriwal has filed a reply in the Delhi High Court. Arvind Kejriwal, while filing a reply to the ED's allegations, said that ED does not have a single proof of spending money in the Goa elections. The Enforcement Directorate does not have a single proof against CM Kejriwal. Statements were taken from witnesses as part of a conspiracy against Kejriwal by granting him bail.

The court adjourned the hearing as the Supreme Court said it did not want to decide the issue in advance pending the High Court order.
