Kushinagar, 01 October (Hindustan Reporter). Keeping the elderly as a priority in one's life and caring for them is the greatest service to the society. Liveliness and activity do not allow old age to become a problem. The above statement was made by the Vice Chancellor of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, Prof. Poonam Tandon said.
She was speaking as the chief guest at a two-day national seminar on 'Successful Aging: Issues and Challenges' organized by the Department of Psychology, Buddha Postgraduate College, Kushinagar and sponsored by ICSSR New Delhi.
Delivering the keynote address at the symposium, Prof. Sanjeev P Sawhney, Founder Director, Department of Behavioral Sciences, OP Jindal University, said that in the globalized world, the elderly are untouched by planners, policy makers and discourses. In today's world where children are leaving their homes for a better future, it causes major problems in terms of concern and service for the elderly. For this reason, it is the responsibility of our society and state to take appropriate steps to take care of the elders in the family.
Addressing the seminar, National President of Community Psychology Council, Prof. A.V. Madnawat said that activism is a matter of habit, not age. Prof. Jitendra Mohan said that old age is not a state of extinction, as long as this feeling persists, old age will not be effective.
Pro. NK Saxena, Dr. Desh Aggarwal, Managing Committee Secretary Virendra Singh Ahluwalia addressed the seminar. Former Principal Prof. Amritanshu Shukla laid the introduction of the program.
