Dehradun, July 10 (HS). BJP MLA from Kedarnath, Shaila Rani Rawat, died on Tuesday night. She was suffering from a serious illness for a long time. Her death has caused a wave of mourning. Her last rites will be performed at her native place on Wednesday.
68-year-old MLA Shaila Rani Rawat, who was ill for a long time, was undergoing treatment at Max Hospital Dehradun for two days. Two months ago, she got injured after slipping during a program. Due to this, she was admitted to Max Hospital. She breathed her last during treatment at Max Hospital in Dehradun. After her death, a wave of mourning spread in the political and social world.
Shaila Rani Rawat was a two-time MLA. She was elected MLA from the Congress party for the first time in 2012. In the year 2017, during the election campaign, she slipped and fell, due to which she suffered serious injuries. After this she fell into the grip of a serious illness. She was hospitalized for almost three years. After recovering, she was re-elected MLA in 2022. During the rebellion in the Congress during the Harish Rawat government, Shailarani also joined the BJP along with nine senior MLAs of the party. The BJP had given her a ticket from the Kedarnath seat in the 2017 assembly elections, but she lost. The BJP once again made her a candidate in 2022. Then Shailarani won.
