Jammu, August 18 (HS). Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta has sharply criticized regional political parties for allegedly misleading the public about the restoration of Article 370. His remarks came in response to former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's statement in which he suggested that his party would try to introduce a resolution in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly to oppose the central government's decision to revoke the special status of the region.

Speaking to the media at the BJP headquarters, Gupta termed Abdullah's comments as daydreaming and accused the regional parties of failing to take meaningful action since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019. He highlighted the electoral defeat of Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti in the recent Lok Sabha elections as evidence of public rejection of their stand.

Gupta expressed confidence in the BJP's upcoming assembly election prospects and said that the selection of candidates is imminent. He assured that the central leadership is actively engaged and committed to addressing key issues in Jammu and Kashmir, including economic development, security and political empowerment. Gupta emphasized that only the BJP can fulfill the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and pledged the party's continued efforts to meet the needs of the region and connect with them.
