
The central government has launched a major campaign against Naxalites in 2024. Meanwhile, security forces got great success in Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh on Wednesday. More than 26 Naxalites were killed in the encounter. More than 400 Naxalites have been killed in the last 14 months. Navballa Keshav Rao alias Basavaraju was killed in an encounter on Wednesday. He was the mastermind of the 2010 Dantewada attack and the 2013 Zeeram Valley Massacre. The security forces placed a reward of Rs 1.5 crore on him.
Earlier, Naxalite leader Shankar Rao was also included in 29 Naxalites killed in Kanker district on 16 April 2024. He had a reward of 25 lakh rupees on his head. At the same time, a Naxalite leader was killed in Bijapur in January 2025, who had a reward of Rs 90 lakh on his head. Earlier on 18 November 2024, security forces killed Vikram Gowda in Hebri area of Udupi district of Karnataka. Vikram Gowda was a leading Naxalite leader in South India. Now it is the turn of Madavi Hidma among these dreaded Naxalites. He is the most notorious and Naxalite leader in the country. He is the mastermind of the 2010 Tadmetla attack. 76 CRPF personnel were killed in this attack.
Regarding the murder of Nawaballa Keshav Rao alias Basavaraju, Home Minister Amit Shah has said that in three decades of India’s anti -Naxalism war, our security forces have killed a general secretary level Naxalite. Home Minister Amit Shah has clearly stated that by March 2026, India will be Naxal -free. Naxalism continues to end after his announcement.
The success received against red terror can be gauged from the fact that Naxalites are now avoiding red terror and returning to the mainstream. At the same time, those who do not leave the world of terror are also leaving this world. So far, a large number of Naxalites have returned to the mainstream after laying weapons. For this, the government has also made a liberal surrender policy. 3 March 2024: 1 Naxalite was killed near Hidur village in Chhotebethia police station area of Kanker district. An AK-47 rifle was seized from him.
20 March 2024: A total of 30 Naxalites were killed in an encounter in Bijapur and Kanker districts. (26 in Bijapur, 4 in Kanker) This operation, which lasted for seven hours, was carried out by more than 500 security personnel.
29 March 2024: 16 Naxalites were killed in an encounter in Keralapal area of Sukma district.
2 April 2024- Nedra, Bijapur, 13 Naxalites killed
16 April 2024- Chhoti Bethea, Kanker, 29 Naxalites killed
30 April 2024- Tekmeta, Narayanpur, 10 Naxalites killed
10 May 2024- Pedia, Bijapur, 12 Naxalites killed

Year 2025
January 4: 5 Naxalites were killed in an encounter in the forest of Abujhmad. One of them was a female Naxalite.
January 9: 3 Naxalites were killed in an encounter on the Sukma-Bijapur border.
January 12: 5 Naxalites were killed in an encounter in Maddid area of Bijapur. These included 2 Naxalites.
January 16: 18 Naxalites were killed in Kanker Pujari village on the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border.
January 20-21: 16 Naxalites were killed in an encounter in Gariaband district.
February 2- 8 Naxalites were killed in an encounter in Gangalur, Bijapur.
10 February: 31 Naxalites were killed in Bijapur. These included 11 Naxalites.
May 14: 31 Naxalites were killed in a campaign on the Kuregutta hill.
May 21: 27 Naxalites were killed in an encounter in Narayanpur. Raju, who had a reward of one crore rupees, was also killed.
First major action in three decades
Home Minister Amit Shah said, “This is a historical achievement in the fight to end Naxalism.” Today, in an operation in Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh, our security forces have killed 27 dreaded Naxalites. It also includes Nambala Keshav Rao alias Basavaraju, the backbone of Naxalism. This is the first time in India’s three -decade war against Naxalism that our security forces have killed a general secretary level Naxalite. I appreciate our brave security forces and agencies for this great achievement. After the completion of Operation Black Forest, 54 Naxalites have been arrested in Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Maharashtra and 84 Naxalites have surrendered. The Modi government is committed to ending Naxalism before 31 March 2026.
On Wednesday, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said on the success against Naxalism, “We have been fighting firmly against Naxalism since coming to power.” Our soldiers are moving towards ending Naxalism from the country by 31 March 2026. Operation is going on against Naxalites in Narayanpur, in which our soldiers have killed 27 Naxalites. It also includes a Naxalite whose big reward is declared on the head.
