Kanpur, 24 September (HS). Under the Prabhat Ferry campaign, the police team of Kalyanpur police station arrested four members of a gang involved in thefts in the city from near Eldeco Colony. The team recovered a scooty used in the thefts, two stolen motorcycles and Rs 17,500 from the possession of the gang.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, West Zone, Rajesh Kumar Singh, said on Tuesday that among the accused caught with the help of CCTV cameras installed under Operation Trinetra, 4 criminal cases are registered against Sonu Kashyap, a resident of Rawatpur Mohalla and police station area. 7 criminal cases are registered against Rahul, a resident near Shiv Mandir, Awas Vikas Colony, Kalyanpur police station area. Similarly, 5 criminal cases are registered against Ankit Sonkar, a resident of Narwal Mohalla and police station area and 6 criminal cases are registered against Krishnakant alias Kanhaiya Kashyap, a resident of Rawatpur, the lane next to Sai Garden, Rawatpur police station area.
During interrogation, he told the police team that he had stolen Rs 2 lakh from Maharaj Paan shop located near IIT Metro. Similarly, Rs 50 thousand were stolen from a person travelling in an e-rickshaw. The police team took legal action against the gang members and sent them to jail.
