Ahmedabad News: Kanoria Center for Arts (KCA), a leading institution dedicated to arts, culture and community, is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a week-long celebration. Established in the year 1984 by Chairperson Urmila Kanoria and renowned architect Dr. KCA in association with BV Doshi and Ahmedabad Education Society has been supporting emerging and established artists for a long time. Since its inception KCA has evolved into a creative and self development centre, dedicated to encouraging creativity.
To commemorate the 40-year milestone, a series of special events called “Open Space” is being organized as part of the KCA anniversary celebrations, welcoming art lovers to the sprawling campus of KCA.
Speaking about this milestone, Ms. Urmila Kailash Kanoria, Chairperson, Kanoria Center for Arts said, Kanoria Center for Arts was born with a vision of creating a community that values creativity and cultural exchange. For the past four decades it has been dedicated to enriching our artistic community. I am proud to see the center grow so well, I am extremely grateful to all those who have contributed to making KCA a thriving center of arts and culture.
Various exciting events have been organized to mark the 40th anniversary of the Center on 15 November, including the inauguration of the Urmila Kailash Black Box by Sangeeta Jindal. The 1656 square feet multifunctional space hosts a wide range of artistic and cultural activities that are being offered by KCA to the arts community.
The festival will also include Portraits and Space: Balkrishna Doshi in His Own Creations, a photographic exhibition by Vinay Panjwani that captures the essence of Dr. Doshi’s architectural masterpiece. Artist Mansi Karani and her artiste Urmila Kailash will also perform at the Black Box event.
The series of events also includes An Invitation to Our Dying Studio, a special exhibition at the Urmila Art Gallery through the studio medium which showcases traditional and contemporary dyeing practices, a presentation of Tapestry of Space, an architectural model of BV Doshi’s works. Will do.
