District Kangra has reiterated its excellent performance in the state by getting the first prize in the Good Governance Index for the third consecutive time. Deputy Commissioner Kangra Hemraj Bairwa received the first prize of Rs 50 lakh for 'Good Governance' in a program organized under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister in the capital Shimla. On Monday, Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa, on receiving the first prize for Good Governance in his office, appreciated the efforts of Kangra district officials and said that due to better mutual coordination between the departments in Kangra district, governance has become smooth and simple.
He said that the credit for this award goes to the officers and employees who are working with dedication and devotion for the convenience of the public and to fulfill the objectives of the government in the district. He has called upon the officers and employees working in the district to work with mutual coordination to continue this demonstration in the future also so that the common people can get better facilities.
Evaluation was done on these points
It is noteworthy that District Good Governance Index is an initiative to assess the quality of governance. Its report is prepared on the basis of data from all the districts and data is collected on 8 main topics, 19 focal points and 76 indicators for comparative assessment of all the districts. Deputy Commissioner said that it includes many parameters like infrastructure, transparency, accountability, human resource development, health, education, drinking water, road facilities, law and order.

DC said that even though District Kangra has secured first position in the Good Governance Index for the third consecutive time, there is always scope for improvement in every work. He said that this index will prove helpful in assessing the quality of governance. He said that on the basis of its report, necessary steps can be taken in future also by the district administration and various departments to further improve their functioning. He said that the administration has received Rs 50 lakh for coming first in the district good governance index. He said that this amount will be spent on developing the performance capacity of all the departments in the district.

It is noteworthy that district Kangra has made great achievements in the recent past. Along with the best performance in the Good Governance Index for two consecutive years, the district has also received other important awards. Deputy Commissioner said that apart from this, Kangra district has also been successful in hosting many prestigious events in the last few years. He said that along with good governance, district Kangra is also performing well in the field of tourism, events organization and innovation.
