Jaunpur, December 20 (HS) Arfi alias Kamran, the main accused in the murder case of journalist Ashutosh Srivastava, resident of Sabarhat village of Shahganj Kotwali police station area, has been arrested by the crime branch team from Line Bazar police station area on Wednesday night.
It may be noted that journalist Ashutosh Srivastava was shot dead by miscreants in broad daylight at 9.30 am on May 13. Police arrested some people and some were killed in an encounter. At the same time, the journalist’s brother Santosh Srivastava is continuously demanding from the police administration, the District Magistrate and the Chief Minister of the state Yogi Adityanath regarding the arrest of the main accused.
In this case, Ashutosh’s brother Santosh Srivastava had told on Friday that there is another accused in this murder case, Nasir Jamal, whom the police has not been able to arrest yet. He is a land mafia.
Giving information in this matter on Friday, Additional Superintendent of Police City Arvind Kumar said that the main wanted accused of the murder case is Kamran (38), son of Mainuddin, resident of Sabarhad Shahganj, who has surrendered in Jaunpur Court after the writ was rejected in the Honorable High Court Allahabad and instructions were given. He was present in Line Bazaar police station area, who was arrested by the Crime Branch team and handed over to Line Bazaar. From where he was presented in the Honorable Court and taken on judicial remand and sent to jail on Thursday.
