Dharamshala, June 27 (HS). Congress candidate Kamlesh Thakur held nine street meetings on Thursday and sought support from the people. While directly communicating with people at Nandpur, Gathuttar, Guler, Thalla etc., he said that I do not want to go to Canada and Mumbai, I want to serve the people by staying in Dehra. After becoming an MLA, even if I go from Dehra, I will go to my in-laws' house in Naidun or Shimla to get your work done. I have everything in Dehra and Dehra is mine now, so the opponents need not be disturbed much.

She said that I have toured almost half of the Dehra assembly constituency so far, and many problems have come to light after meeting people continuously. The problems of electricity, water, roads and bridges will be solved on priority basis after the code of conduct ends. Along with requesting the Chief Minister, I will also get the work of the people done by putting pressure.

He said that former independent MLA Hoshiar Singh has played with the sentiments of the people of Dehra. The people had elected him for 5 years, but he betrayed them in just 14 months. What was the need for the independent MLA to resign? He could have left the Congress government and joined the BJP, but under the pressure of the deal he made with the BJP, he is leaving the MLA post and contesting elections again.

Congress leader said that this by-election has been imposed on the people of Dehra by BJP and former independent MLA. This by-election will put a burden of crores of rupees on the people. The people of Dehra had elected an independent MLA, he could have worked with the government and got the work done. But, he focused on his own work. There is a big problem of electricity, water, roads and bridges in Dehra. Many works are incomplete, people will face problems in the rainy season due to the incomplete work on bridges. Even fans are not working due to electricity problem. Why did the former MLA not solve these problems during his tenure?

Kamlesh Thakur said that when an MLA is elected by the votes of the people, there is no BJP or Congress for him, he is the representative of all. But, Hoshiar Singh worked for the people without any discrimination. Dehra has lagged behind in terms of development in the last six and a half years. The Chief Minister and I will together compensate for this in the next three and a half years. You all have to accept my invitation of July 10, I assure you that I will not disappoint you after becoming an MLA. All the legitimate works will be done by meeting the Chief Minister and Cabinet Ministers.
