Washington, October 31 (Hindustan Reporter) The countdown to the presidential elections has started in the United States. On Tuesday night, Democratic Party candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris surrounded her rival Donald Trump from the 19th century 'Lawn Ellipse' of the White House for the elections to be held on November 5. She stood at the same spot where Trump had given a speech nearly four years ago. Trump had urged his supporters to march on the Capitol from here. It is noteworthy that after this, violent rebellion broke out on January 6, 2021.

From the stage set up on the lawn ellipse, Harris portrayed her rival, former President Donald Trump, as a “petty tyrant”, “obsessed with grievances and dedicated to unchecked power”, The New York Times reported. She presented herself as a fighter, saying she would unify the country while ushering in a new generation of leadership.

“In less than 90 days, either Donald Trump or I will be in the Oval Office,” he said, pointing to the White House just behind the stage. Harris feared that if Trump wins the election, he will enter office with a list of his enemies. If elected she will enter there with futuristic programs to take the country forward.

Before this, both of them tried to garner support from voters by campaigning at many places. Both started their day with rallies in North Carolina. Harris delivered a message of unity in Pennsylvania. Trump criticized President Joe Biden. Kamala Harris said that she will not act out of revenge.

It is noteworthy that the Ellipse is also known as President's Park in America. It is spread over 52 acres and is just south of the White House. This park is accessible via footpath. The Ellipse Visitor Pavilion is located at 15th Street and E Street. It is a big oval shaped ground.
