The director of Kamal Adwan Hospital said that on Friday Israeli soldiers ordered some medical staff to evacuate the hospital and detained others. Later, several parts of the hospital facilities were set on fire.
Israel has long said that Kamal Adwan is a Hamas stronghold where terrorists are active. “Israeli troops are conducting targeted operations in the area, while minimizing harm to uninvolved civilians, patients and medical personnel,” the IDF said in a statement. In a separate statement, the IDF acknowledged that “a small fire in an empty building inside the hospital has been brought under control.” But the army has completely rejected the claim that the fire was caused by IDF firing.
