Junior doctors protest against Swasthya Bhavan Abhiyan, call government's mail insulting | News India

Kolkata, September 10 (HS). Junior doctors, who are agitating for five-point demands, are sitting near the Health Bhavan till Tuesday night. However, they have received a mail from the Health Secretary for talks. The doctors have called it insulting. The mail states that a team of less than 10 representatives will be allowed to come to Navanna for talks. The doctors are not seeing this mail as a positive message and have strongly opposed it.

Doctors say that they had many times expressed hope for a positive response from the government regarding their five-point demands, but they do not consider this mail received from the Health Secretary as any kind of positive step. Doctors allege that no official invitation or mail has been sent to them from Navanna by the government for talks. They believe that if the government really wanted to negotiate, it would have communicated with them in a more flexible manner.

The junior doctors further said that calling a team of less than 10 representatives for talks is insulting to them. According to them, a team of representatives from every college should participate in the talks, and they are ready for this. But they are not ready to accept the proposal of sending only 10 representatives. The doctors say that the spirit of their movement has been hurt through this mail and they reject this insulting mail.

Apart from this, the doctors also made it clear that the mail from the Health Secretary will not be accepted in any form. If there is no clear and necessary message from the government, they will not participate in the talks. Also, if there are talks in the future, the presence of all the representatives should be ensured and not just a select few members.

Chief Minister Mamata is waiting in the secretariat

Sources have said that after mailing the doctors, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was sitting in the secretariat. She was waiting for the doctors to come and hold talks. But it is reported that when the doctors made it clear that they would not go for talks, the Chief Minister left for her residence.
