Cyber Crime Wing of Tamil Nadu police:Cyber criminals are adopting new ways to cheat people every day. Now another fraud has come to light, which is being called ‘Jumped Deposit Scam’. Cyber Crime Wing of Tamil Nadu Police has alerted people about this scam. Many complaints related to this scam have also been registered on the National Cyber Crime Portal.
What is ‘Jumped Deposit Scam’?
In this scam, fraudsters use UPI to cheat the victim.
- How does the scam happen:
- Fraudsters first transfer a small amount to the victim’s account.
- After this, the victim receives an SMS notification of the arrival of the money.
- Trap method:
- Seeing the notification, the victim opens the app to check his bank account.
- As soon as the victim enters his PIN number, the fraudsters use his information to send a request to withdraw a large amount of money.
- Once the victim enters the PIN, the fraudster’s transaction request is approved, and they withdraw many times the amount from the account.
How to avoid this scam?
1. Do not respond immediately to SMS notifications:
- Avoid checking your account immediately if you receive any suspicious SMS or notification regarding receipt of money.
- Wait for some time so that any fraudulent requests auto-expire.
2. Enter the wrong PIN the first time:
- If you need to check your account, enter the wrong PIN intentionally the first time.
- This may result in cancellation of any fraudulent request.
3. Take immediate action on suspicious transactions:
- If there are any suspicious transactions in the account, contact your bank immediately.
- Inform the bank’s customer service team about the incident.
4. Complain on cyber crime portal:
- Any type of fraud case can be reported to the National Cyber Crime Portal (NCP).www.cybercrime.gov.in) immediately report.

- Be alert:
- Be careful of any such SMS notifications.
- Do not check account without complete information.
- Report suspicious incidents:
- Report the case to the nearest cyber crime police station.
- In cyber crime cases, immediate action helps in catching the criminals.
