The Congress has announced to launch a nationwide mass movement demanding the formation of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe the allegations against Adani and caste census and respect for the Constitution.

This decision was taken in a meeting of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, party general secretaries, state in-charges and state Congress committee presidents.

Amid the ongoing controversy over Hindenburg's allegations against Adani, the Opposition has said that a nationwide protest will be held on August 22 demanding a JPC probe into the Adani case and the resignation of SEBI chief Madhabi Puri Buch.

It is worth noting that elections are going to be held in Haryana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand at the end of this year. Elections are also going to be held in Jammu and Kashmir this year. Jairam Ramesh and KC Vesugopal were also present in the meeting held at the AICC headquarters.

The Congress has urged the BJP-led central government to ensure that attacks on minorities and their religious places in Bangladesh stop by all possible efforts.

The resolution passed in this meeting states that Congress is demanding a JPC inquiry into the Adani mega scam. The resolution further states that the Prime Minister is also involved in this scam and the role of SEBI is also suspicious.

In the meeting, grief was also expressed over the landslide incident in Wayanad. There was a demand to declare the Wayanad landslide as a national disaster. In this meeting, the central government was cornered on issues like inflation and unemployment.
