New Delhi, September 17 (HS). Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda on Tuesday unveiled the logo and brochure of the Global Food Regulators Summit (GFRS) 2024 at Nirman Bhawan. The summit is being organized by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and the Ministry of Food Processing Industries under the aegis of the World Food India 2024 program and the Ministry of Family Welfare from 19 to 21 September at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

Underlining the importance of food safety on the global platform, Union Health Minister Nadda said food safety has long been the focus of international efforts but food security must be given equal priority to ensure health and well-being. He said the summit will provide a global platform to strengthen food safety systems and regulatory frameworks. He stressed the role of knowledge exchange in ensuring global food safety and quality, emphasizing the need to keep up with emerging threats, technological advancements and changing consumer demands.

JP Nadda said that this will be the first time that a regional food regulatory conference is being held outside Rome and it is a proud moment for India to host it. The conclave focuses on enhancing regional cooperation in the standard-setting process within the Codex Alimentarius Commission. It will provide a dedicated platform for Asian countries to discuss food safety, trade and specific regulatory challenges of the region.
