WASHINGTON: Speaking on the sidelines of NATO's historic 75th summit on Tuesday, President Joe Biden said, “Make no mistake, Russia is going to lose this war. We are going to give Ukraine its last air defense system.”
Welcoming the representatives of NATO countries to this historic summit, he further said, 'Apart from America, Germany, Netherlands, Romania and Italy are also going to provide modern air defense systems to Ukraine. We will also give it important interceptors. We have to give before anyone else does.
Make no mistake, Putin is going to lose this war. For two years, this war started by Putin has been going on unabated. More than 350,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded. Nearly 1 million young Russians are leaving the country. They are leaving the country because they don't see a future in Russia.
Remember Kiev, guys, he (Putin) believed it would fall within five days. Do you remember that? Yet it is still standing. It has been standing for two and a half years and will continue to stand. All our allies know that before the war Putin believed NATO would collapse. But today NATO is stronger than ever. Ukraine was an independent country before this stupid war began, it still is, but the President of Russia (Putin) wants to 'enslave' it, wipe its democracy, its culture off the map. We know Putin will not stop at Ukraine, but make no mistake Putin will succeed. Ukraine will stop Putin.
There are risks in war, but the biggest risk will be if Russia wins in Ukraine. We must not let this happen, because it will embolden not only Putin but also the dictators of China and North Korea. They will become stronger.
As Biden acknowledged, NATO has not been successful lately. But that is due to some smart decisions taken at difficult times.
Today is the time to stand up for freedom, liberation and democracy, and support Ukraine for that. Ukraine is a place of democracy and freedom and liberation.
Finally, NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg said that the NATO alliance will continue to face tough challenges in the future.
At the end of today's meeting, President Biden awarded Stolen Berg the Medal of Freedom.
