Recently, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had asked telecom companies to give users the option of voice-only plans, in which data will not be available, but facilities like calling and SMS will be available. Reliance Jio and Airtel have taken steps in this direction, but there is a bad news for Jio subscribers. The company has removed some of its value plans with limited data.

Jio removed value plans:

Now, for Jio users who wanted to recharge only for calling but also wanted limited data, this option is no longer available. The company has removed three value plans, which were priced at Rs 189, Rs 479 and Rs 1899 respectively. In these plans, the benefit of calling along with data was available.

  • Rs 189 plan: 28 days validity, 2GB data, unlimited calling, 300 SMS
  • Rs 479 plan: 84 days validity, 6GB data, unlimited calling, 1000 SMS
  • Rs 1899 plan: 336 days validity, 24GB data, unlimited calling, 3600 SMS

Now, in place of these plans, Jio is left with only two voice-only plans.

New voice-only plans:

  • Rs 458 plan: 84 days validity, 1000 SMS, unlimited calling
  • Rs 1958 plan: 365 days validity, 3600 SMS, unlimited calling

No data is included in these new plans, but subscribers are being given access to Jio apps (JioTV, JioCinema and JioCloud).

Jio has only provided calling and SMS facilities with these new voice-only plans, which will be useful for users who only need these services.
