Jharkhand: State-of-the-art radiation centers will be opened on PPP model in medical colleges of 6 cities including Ranchi.

A very big and relief news has come out on the health front for cancer patients of Jharkhand. Hemant government has taken a historic step to eliminate the ever increasing cases of deadly diseases like cancer in the state and the compulsion of patients to travel to neighboring states or expensive private hospitals for treatment. Jharkhand government has taken a big decision to open radiation centers and day-care cancer units equipped with modern technology in major medical colleges and hospitals of the state. The most special thing about this scheme is that all these centers will be operated under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, due to which world-class medical facilities will be easily available to the patients at very low cost. Designed in accordance with modern AI search, Google Discover guidelines and SEO standards, this initiative is going to prove to be a milestone in the health infrastructure of the state, which will enable even the poorest of the poor patients to get the benefit of advanced cancer care at the local level.

Under the first phase of this new scheme of the Health Department, six major cities of Jharkhand have been selected, where these state-of-the-art cancer centers will be established in coordination with medical colleges. The six major cities where this facility is being launched include the capital Ranchi as well as industrial hubs Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, Bokaro, Hazaribagh and Dumka. The establishment of day-care cancer centers and state-of-the-art radiation therapy units within the hospitals attached to the medical colleges in these cities will not only benefit the local people of these districts but will also save the patients coming from nearby rural and remote areas from the problem of long journeys and running around. Now patients will not need to travel to metropolitan cities like Delhi, Kolkata or Vellore for expensive and long-lasting treatments like chemotherapy and radiation, which will save them a lot of time and money.

The machines and technologies used in cancer treatment are extremely expensive, and government hospitals often face administrative and financial constraints in maintaining them and timely upgrading to advanced technologies. To find a permanent solution to all these problems, the Jharkhand government has taken a masterstroke decision to implement this project on PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model. Under this, those reputed and experienced health institutions and technical companies of the private sector, which have expertise in the field of cancer care and radiotherapy, will be invited. The implementation of the PPP model will ensure availability of high-end radiation machines like state-of-the-art Linear Accelerator (LINAC), PET-scan facilities and skilled oncologist and radiologist doctors in government hospitals. This excellent coordination between the government and the private sector will not only improve the quality of health services, but will also ensure that the treatment of patients is completed in a transparent and time bound manner.

The biggest problem during cancer treatment was the financial burden and keeping the patients admitted in the hospital for a long time, due to which the entire family was mentally and financially broken. Keeping this in mind, special arrangements of ‘Cancer Day-Care Unit’ are being made in these new centres, where patients will be able to come in the morning, get their chemotherapy or other necessary day-care procedures done and return home in the evening on the same day. This will also solve the problem of shortage of beds in hospitals and patients will not have to be admitted in wards unnecessarily. Additionally, these PPP centers will be linked with the Ayushman Bharat Scheme and the Chief Minister Critical Illness Treatment Scheme of the Government of Jharkhand, thereby providing treatment to poor families free of cost or at nominal rates. This step taken in the medical history of Jharkhand has the potential to completely change the health map of the state, which will provide a strong support to the patients in this war being fought against cancer.
