Jharkhand: Leaders of India Alliance met the Chief Secretary and demanded strict action against the miscreants within 48 hours.

The political turmoil going on in Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi regarding competitive examinations and student movements is not showing any sign of stopping. The political excitement has now reached its peak amid the controversy over alleged irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC examinations in the state. Recently, after the main opposition party gave an ultimatum, a high-level delegation of the ruling ‘INDIA’ alliance reached to meet the state Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar. The leaders of the alliance said in clear words that the unruly elements who are spoiling the atmosphere of the state and spreading anarchy under the guise of student movement should not be spared. The leaders have demanded the administration to identify the culprits on the basis of videography and digital evidence within the next 48 hours and take strict legal action, which has intensified the stir in the political circles of Jharkhand.

The delegation of the ruling party, which came to meet the Chief Secretary at the Jharkhand Ministry, included many senior leaders and MLAs of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). The leaders also handed over some video footage and evidence to the administrative officials during the meeting, in which incidents of disturbance and vandalism were allegedly recorded during the agitation. The prominent leaders leading the delegation bluntly said that the government and the coalition parties are always completely sensitive towards the democratic rights of the students, their public interest related demands and future, but some political parties and anti-social elements are using this sacred movement as a weapon. He alleged that some people with vested interests are making political gains by placing guns on the shoulders of students and challenging the law and order in the state.

During this high-level meeting, the leaders of the alliance also raised the demand with the Chief Secretary that the ongoing CID investigation into the matters related to recruitment examinations and especially Jharkhand Common Graduate Qualified Combined Competitive Examination (CGL) should be expedited. The leaders said that the agencies which are working to get to the bottom of this entire matter should make their action more transparent and decisive so that milk can be milk and water can be water. The government has assured that the future of any innocent student will not be played with and the youth studying or expressing their views in a peaceful manner will not be unnecessarily harassed, but it is very important to tighten the noose of the law against those who are spreading violence by staying behind the scenes or taking advantage of the crowd.

The ongoing tension between the ruling party and the opposition regarding the student movement in Jharkhand has started affecting the political equations in the coming days. On one hand, the opposition parties are pressurizing the students to withdraw the cases registered against them and demanding a CBI inquiry into the examinations, while on the other hand, the ruling coalition has given an ultimatum of 48 hours to the administration to crack down on the miscreants. This entire incident has made it clear that in the coming days, this issue of employment and examinations is going to be the biggest focal point of the state’s politics, on which everyone is keeping a close eye.
