Today is going to prove to be a historical milestone for the art, culture and film world of Jharkhand. The Jharkhand government has geared up to give a new and modern direction to film production, acting and its education in the state. An important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed today at Project Bhawan, Ranchi in the dignified presence of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. This agreement will be signed between Jharkhand Film Development Corporation Limited (JFDCL), working under the State Information and Public Relations Department (IPRD), and the prestigious Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) of Kolkata, paving the way for the first film institute in the state.

As soon as this much awaited MoU comes to the ground, the way for the establishment of ‘Jharkhand Film and Television Institute’ (JFTI) in Jharkhand will be completely paved. During this signing ceremony to be held today, many senior officers including Special Secretary of Information and Public Relations Department Rajiv Lochan Bakshi will also be specially present. Under this partnership, there is an optimal division of work between the two institutions, where JFDCL will take charge of the financial management and smooth operations of the institute, while SRFTI, the country’s renowned institute, will take the overall responsibility of developing the academic infrastructure, designing world-class curriculum and providing technical expertise and faculty.
Local youth will get global level technical training
With the opening of this new institute, the talented youth of Jharkhand will no longer have to go to other big states like Mumbai or Kolkata to learn film direction, acting, cinematography, film editing and other technical nuances. The curriculum will be designed in such a way that the youth of the state can get high quality training at the local level. This will not only provide a strong platform to the hidden talents of Jharkhand, but will also create new employment opportunities in the state and also give a new national identity to the film industry and cultural activities.

Jharkhand’s climate, rich cultural heritage and enchanting natural beauty have been attracting filmmakers from across the country and the world for a long time.
