Jharkhand High Court stays coercive action against 18 accused including Babulal Marandi | News India

Ranchi, September 10 (HS). The Jharkhand High Court on Tuesday heard the petition filed by 18 accused, including state BJP president Babulal Marandi and leader of opposition in the assembly Amar Kumar Bauri, seeking cancellation of FIR lodged at Lalpur police station in connection with the clash between workers and policemen during the rally of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha at Morabadi Ground on August 23 in Ranchi.

In this case, a single bench of the High Court has stayed the coercive action in the FIR lodged in Lalpur police station against 18 accused including Babulal Marandi. The court has sought a reply from the state government in 3 weeks. Those against whom the court has stayed coercive action include BJP state president Babulal Marandi, opposition leader Amar Kumar Bauri, MP Dhullu Mahato, MLA Kushwaha Shashi Bhushan, besides BJP leaders Pratul Shahdev, Shashank Raj, Satyendra Nath Tiwari, Mangal Murti Tiwari, Arpana Sengupta, Amit Kumar, Amardeep Yadav, Neera Yadav, Aarti Kujur, Varun Kumar, Indu Shekhar Mishra, Pradeep Kumar Verma, Aditya Prasad.

In this case, case number 203/2024 has been registered against them. A case has been registered against 51 named and 12 thousand unknown people in Lalpur police station.

It is noteworthy that the workers of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha broke the barricades during the protest rally against the 'injustice' done by the Hemant Soren government and the 'failure' to fulfill the election promises. The police fired tear gas shells, water cannon and rubber bullets to disperse the workers of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. The protesters threw stones at the police in which many policemen were also injured.

The district administration had invoked Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code, 2023. After this demonstration, Section 144 was imposed within a radius of 500 meters of Morhabadi ground.
