Ranchi, May 13 (HS). The hearing of the anticipatory bail plea of chartered accountant Hridaya Nand Tiwari in the case related to suspended Chief Engineer of Rural Development Department Virendra Ram, who is in jail accused in a money laundering case, was held in the Jharkhand High Court on Monday. In the case, the court has directed the ED to file its reply within four weeks. The next hearing of the case will be on June 21.
ED had arrested Virendra Ram on February 22, 2023 in the tender commission scam. His three associates Neeraj Mittal, Tarachand Gupta and Ram Prakash Bhatia have also been arrested by ED in this case. It was Hridaya Nand Tiwari who introduced Virendra Ram to chartered accountant Mukesh Mittal. Hridaya Nand Tiwari used to work in Mukesh Mittal's office.
The ED team had seized assets worth more than Rs 39.28 crore of Virendra Ram. The seized property was earned by Virendra from commission in the tender.
