Jharkhand High Court rejects the regulation which is becoming a hindrance in the promotion of university teachers.

Ranchi, May 18 (HS). Jharkhand High Court on Saturday got a big relief in the promotion case of government university teachers. During the hearing of the case, the High Court rejected the condition of clause-3 of the statute made by the Jharkhand government under the UGC regulation of 2010 related to the promotion of teachers, terming it as not legal. The court also ordered that the financial benefits payable under this statute to the teachers of all universities will be payable from the due date on which they become entitled to that benefit.

Under the UGC Regulation of the year 2010, the state government had made a statute on December 15, 2022, under which one of the three clauses related to promotions or other financial benefits payable to teachers of state universities between December 1, 2009 and August 2021. A condition was laid. In the condition of Clause-3, the financial benefit of the previous dues to the teachers or the financial benefit arising from promotion was said to be payable from December 15, 2022, which was rejected by the High Court. Advocate Rupesh Singh appeared on behalf of the petitioner.

Kalanand Thakur and others had filed a petition in the High Court regarding the matter. The petitioner said that in the light of the UGC regulation of 2010 related to the promotion of university teachers, why should the university teachers bear the brunt of the delay caused by the state government in making the statutes.
