Jharkhand High Court imposes a fine of Rs 1.25 lakh on Union Minister Arjun Munda

Ranchi, 06 April (HS). Jharkhand High Court has imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh 25 thousand on Union Minister Arjun Munda for mentioning the matter for hearing without correcting the error in the petition filed.

In fact, during the hearing of the petition by High Court Arjun Munda requesting to cancel the FIR lodged at Dhurva police station during the Secretariat March in Ranchi on 11 April 2023, it was found that the error in the petition has not been rectified till now. Even after this the matter was mentioned for hearing in the court.

Taking serious note of mentioning this petition for hearing before the court without removing the errors in the petition, the court imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh 25 thousand on Arjun Munda. The court has directed to deposit this amount of fine with the Advocate Clerk Association, Jharkhand High Court. However, while hearing the case, the court gave immediate relief to Minister Arjun Munda and banned coercive action against him. The next hearing of the case is to be held on May 8.

BJP workers marching towards the secretariat as part of the program clashed with the police. Case number 107/2023 was registered in Dhurva police station regarding the matter. In this, an FIR was registered against 41 named and many unknown people including Union Minister Arjun Munda, former Chief Ministers Babulal Marandi and Raghuvar Das, Chatra MP Sunil Kumar Singh, MLA Amit Mandal, Sameer Oraon, MP Nishikant Dubey. On behalf of Arjun Munda, the High Court has been requested to cancel this FIR.
