Jharkhand High Court disposed of the petition of BJP and Babulal Marandi in the defection and Leader of Opposition case

Ranchi, August 12 (HS). Jharkhand High Court on Monday disposed of the petition filed by BJP and Babulal Marandi regarding the matter of defection and the Leader of Opposition in the House. Also, Pradeep Yadav's petition was transferred to a single bench.

The court said that Amar Kumar Bauri has been selected as the leader of the opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly. In such a situation, there is no justification for hearing this petition now. Therefore, this petition is partially disposed of. Also, regarding the appointment of Lokayukta, Chairman of Human Rights Commission, Chief Information Commissioner and Information Commissioner in the State Information Commission, the court has asked the state government to tell the current status regarding the appointment process. The court has scheduled the next hearing of the case on August 30.

Earlier, on behalf of the government, Advocate General Rajiv Ranjan told the court that applications were sought for the appointment of the Chairman of the Human Rights Commission and the Information Commissioner, the last date for which has expired. The work of scrutiny of the applications of the applicants for the Chairman of the Human Rights Commission has been completed. At the same time, the scrutiny work is going on in the case of appointment of the Information Commissioner. The entire process will be completed soon. The state government sought time from the court to tell the status regarding the appointment on constitutional posts.

During the previous hearing, the court had told the state government that the posts of several constitutional bodies including Lokayukta, Human Rights Commission, State Information Commission, Chief Information Commissioner and Information Commissioner have been lying vacant for three to five years but these have not been filled yet, these should be filled soon. The court had asked the state government through an affidavit to reduce the time frame for appointment to several constitutional posts including Lokayukta, in light of which the state government had presented a time frame for appointment to the posts of Lokayukta, Information Commissioner, Chairman of Human Rights Commission.
