Ranchi, October 17 (HS). Former MP Dr. Suraj Mandal said that Jharkhand Agitational Morcha will support the agitators of Jharkhand in the upcoming assembly elections. Also, Jharkhand Andolan Morcha will support the candidates who understand the importance of the development of Jharkhand and are dedicated to the welfare of its people.
He said that the Jharkhand movement started under the leadership of Jaipal Singh Munda was unsuccessful only because then the leaders of Bihar always conspired to make the tribals and indigenous people of Jharkhand fight among themselves, create divisions and take advantage of it. Now all the same elements are doing the same thing sitting in Ranchi.
Mandal was speaking at a press conference at Ranchi Press Club on Thursday. He said that after the formation of Jharkhand, OBC reservation was reduced from 27 percent to 14 percent while Scheduled Tribe reservation was increased from 14 percent to 27 percent. This was the first act of setting fire at the social level in Jharkhand, while many such acts were done. He said that if he had known that Babulal Marandi would join BJP, he would never have joined BJP.
He said that after coming to power, Hemant Soren had said many things like increasing the OBC reservation to 27 percent, giving five lakh jobs to the OBC category, correcting old mistakes, but as soon as he came to power, he joined hands with the staunch opponent Congress of Jharkhand. Sat in the lap of brokers, mine mafia and sand mafia. He said that in the last five years, Jharkhand's resources have been looted and the interests of its people have been attacked. That had never happened before. Jharkhand has been ruled by tribals for 19 out of the last 24 years and during this period, OBCs and indigenous people have been ruling on a large scale.
On the occasion, senior leader of Jharkhand Andolankari Morcha, Prabhakar Tirkey said that the core committee of Jharkhand Andolankari Morcha has been formed which will play an active role in the assembly elections and will work in the interest of Jharkhand by uniting the agitators and take policy decisions. He said that the 18-member core committee formed for this includes Suraj Mandal, Bahadur Oraon, Vinod Kumar Bhagat, Shafiq Alam, Zubair Alam, Abdul Kalam, Abdul Khalik, Jayashree Das, Manav Ghosh, Sukhdev, Hemram, Ramji Bhagat, Kinnu Hembram, Surendra Raj, Prabhakar Tirkey, Pushkar Mahato, Jyotish Tirkey and Ravi Nandi. Along with this, a high level committee has also been formed at the divisional level, whose meeting will be held in the next three-four days. South Chhotanagpur division meeting in Ranchi on October 20, Palamu division meeting in Daltonganj on October 21, North Chhotanagpur division meeting in Hazaribagh on October 22, Santhal Pargana division meeting in Dumka on October 23 and Kolhan division meeting in Chaibasa on October 24. It will take place in October.
