District Magistrate Captain Shakti Singh has given instructions to identify the factors causing pollution and take strict steps to prevent air pollution in the limits of Jhajjar district. Also, the general public has been called upon to participate in pollution control by following these rules. District Magistrate Captain Shakti Singh has banned the manufacture, sale, bursting and use of all types of firecrackers except green firecrackers (chain crackers or lari) in Jhajjar limits for a period from October 22 to January 31, 2025. According to the orders issued, fireworks can be lit for two hours on Diwali festival and Guru Nanak Dev Prakash festival and only for 35 minutes on Christmas and New Year. During this time also only green crackers can be burnt. Keeping in mind the problem of pollution, the district administration has completely banned the sale, manufacture and use of firecrackers. Only green crackers are allowed to be burnt. Firecrackers also play an important role in increasing pollution. Air pollution causes many diseases like respiratory and heart diseases. Elderly people and small children also have to face a lot of problems due to pollution during winter season. The increase in air pollution during winter, especially in the months of October to January, is a serious health concern. Various events occurring during winter increase the air pollution levels in the region.
On the day of Diwali or any other festival like Guru Parv etc., fireworks will be lit for two hours from 8 to 10 pm. At the same time, fireworks will be allowed from 11.55 to 12.30 pm on Christmas and New Year's Eve. Whereas e-commerce companies like Flipkart, Amazon etc. will not accept any online order of firecrackers. In case of violation of orders, punitive action will be taken as per relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code, Explosives Act 1884 and Explosives Rules, 2008. The District Magistrate has ordered the Regional Officer of Haryana State Pollution Control Board to regularly monitor the air quality and upload the data on the respective websites as per the directions of the Supreme Court and the Central Pollution Control Board. Teams of various officers have been formed to enforce the ban.
