Jerusalem: Gaza ceasefire talks break down as Israel launches airstrike on Rafah

The Israeli army carried out air strikes on Rafah on Monday. The people of Rafah have confirmed this but there has been no comment from Israel. Ceasefire talks to secure the release of hostages have been disrupted as a result of Israeli military airstrikes. Before the attack, the Israeli military had instructed thousands of Palestinians to evacuate the southern Gaza city of Rafah. This notification indicated that the Israeli army may attack here soon.

A major point of contention between Israel and Hamas is over the duration of the ceasefire. Hamas demands that Israel stop the war, while Israel is insisting on continuing the war until Hamas surrenders. Israel has described Rafah as Hamas's last major stronghold after a seven-month war.

One lakh people were ordered to evacuate

Israeli army spokesman Lt. Colonel Nawad Shoshani said that about a million people were being ordered by Israel to move to nearby Muwasi. He said Israel was preparing for a limited-area operation and would not say if the attack was the beginning of a broader attack on the city.

Danger of impact on one million Palestinians

Israel has published a map of the evacuation zone. Information about this is being given by dropping leaflets from the sky, through text messages and on radio. The Israeli Army said on Twitter that it will take action against the terrorists with more force. Israel's plan to attack Rafah has raised concerns across the world. Because, more than 1 crore Palestinian citizens taking shelter there may be harmed.
