Ranchi, September 19 (HS). CT-GD Sugumar R of 209 Cobra Battalion was injured in an IED explosion planted by Naxalites in West Singhbhum (Chaibasa) district.
Taking immediate action on behalf of the police force, with the help of Police Headquarters and CRPF, the injured Jawan was brought to Ranchi for better treatment after immediate first aid through helicopter. After this, the Jawan was sent to Raj Hospital. According to the doctor, his condition is stable. There is injury on the right leg and face.
According to information received from the Police Headquarters, on Thursday, an IED planted by the Naxals with the aim of targeting security forces in the forest and hilly area around Vangram Kulapuburu under Jharsuguda police station was detonated, due to which Cobra 209 soldier Sugumar A got injured.
Top leaders of the banned CPI (Maoist) Naxalite organization Misir Besra, Anmol, Mochu, Anal, Asin Mandal, Chaman, Ajay Mahato, Sagen Angaria, Ashwin along with their squad members are roaming in Saranda-Kolhan forest area for subversive activities. In this regard, a joint campaign is being run continuously by the security forces and the police.
In the same sequence, information was received that top leaders of banned CPI Maoist Naxalite organization Misir Besra, Anal, Anmol, Ashwin, Pintu Lohra, Chandan Lohra, Amit Hansda alias Apatan along with their squad members were roaming in Saranda and Kolhan forest area. After this, a joint operation has been started from 16 September in the forest and hilly areas bordering Chotanagra, Jharaikela and Manoharpur police station. In the same sequence, Naxalites carried out an explosion, in which a soldier was injured.
