Pithoragarh, 14 November (HS). Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the historic Jauljibi Fair-2024 on Thursday. During this, the Chief Minister said that this fair is a priceless heritage for the state, which has been enhancing mutual harmony between India-Tibet, India-Nepal and border areas for centuries. The cultural winds of India and Nepal blow in this border area for ten days.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 18 schemes worth Rs 64.47 crore. Which includes inauguration of 13 works worth Rs 29.65 crore and laying of five foundation stones worth Rs 34.72 crore. During this, the Chief Minister also inspected various products being made by women self-help groups.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that Jauljibi Fair serves to cherish our rich traditions. It has had cultural ties with Nepal and Tibet for centuries. This region has a bread and butter relationship with Nepal. Our relations are becoming stronger under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The spiritual journey between Kedarnath and Pashupatinath has also strengthened the relations between the two nations.
The Chief Minister said that this fair also works to enhance economic relations between India and Nepal. This fair is a great medium to provide a platform for their products to small traders, farmers and artisans. This fair also plays an important role in promoting our many types of medicines. He said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the government is working with full commitment under the Vibrant Village Program for the overall development of the border areas. By changing the concept of villages which were earlier called the last villages, the Prime Minister has termed these villages as the first villages of the country.
The Chief Minister said that traditional farming is being promoted to increase the income of farmers. State Millet Mission has been approved by the state government to promote Mandwa, Jhingora and other local products. It has been decided to build 18 thousand cluster based poly houses in the state. The expansion in road connectivity has made it easier for farmers to transport their produce to the market.
Development of marginal areas is among the top priorities of the government
The Chief Minister said that modern roads, tunnels and bridges are being constructed in the border areas. Development of marginal areas is among the top priorities of the government. Many action plans have been approved for the development of these areas. Under the Manaskhand Mandir Mala Mission, 16 mythological temples are being developed in the first phase.
Ten thousand people have visited Adi Kailash
The Chief Minister said that after the Prime Minister’s visit to Adi Kailash, traffic has increased rapidly in this area. Compared to last year, this time more than 10 thousand people have visited Adi Kailash. This will give these areas of ours an opportunity to progress economically.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister inspected the construction of motorway from Makkana to Sekla, work of security wall in disaster affected area Lumati Tok Bagicha Bagad, construction of primary health center in Mawani Rawani and construction of mini stadium in Tejam as well as check in Teenkhol Dhungatoli and Panda. Announced the construction of a dam.
On this occasion, Union Minister of State Ajay Tamta, MLA Bishan Singh Chufal, Harish Dhami, District President BJP Girish Joshi, District Panchayat President Deepika Bora, Block Chief Dharchula Dhan Singh Dhami, District Magistrate Pithoragarh Vinod Giri Goswami and Superintendent of Police Rekha Yadav were present.
It is noteworthy that the Pal dynasty of Askot state started the fair in the year 1914 at Jauljibi, the confluence of Kali and Gori rivers. This fair is about 110 years old. The ten-day long fair was initially purely commercial. Traders from even Kolkata used to reach here for business. Jauljibi Fair: People of Dharchula, Talbagad, Gorichal, Munsiyari, Garkha areas have a deep connection with this fair. People of Nepal also bring their local products to this fair and buy their daily goods from here.
