Jathedar advised Amritpal and others to leave the hunger strike and continue their struggle

Amritsar: Jathedar Singh Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh of Sri Akal Takht Sahib has appealed to Amritpal Singh and his comrades and their families lodged in Dibrugarh jail in Assam that since there is no concept of hunger strike in Sikhism, they should not go. He has also warned the government that if any loss occurs to Amritpal Singh and his colleagues who are on hunger strike, it will be the responsibility of the government. Due to which the government should immediately accept their main demand and transfer the Sikh youth lodged in Dibrugarh jail to Punjab jail.

In a statement issued by the Akal Takht Sahib Secretariat, Singh Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh said that Amritpal Singh and his comrades are on hunger strike in Dibrugarh jail against the atrocities being committed in the jail, whose families have also started a hunger strike in Amritsar. . … He said that similarly information has been received that some Sikh youth are also sitting on hunger strike in Amritsar jail, out of which the condition of one Sikh youth is critical.

He said that every Sikh has the right to struggle against oppression, but since there is no concept of hunger strike in Sikhism, Amritpal Singh and his family should not go on hunger strike. He said that the lives of Amritpal Singh and his comrades are a national treasure for the entire country. He said that it is true that the behavior of governments towards Sikhs is becoming increasingly unjust and Sikhs need to show unity against it. He said that the government should also understand that Sikhs cannot be suppressed by force.

If any loss occurs to Bhai Amritpal Singh and his colleagues who are on hunger strike against the injustice being done to them, it will not be good for law and order. He said that the government should immediately accept the main demand of Amritpal Singh and his associates and transfer them to Punjab jail and eliminate the feeling of alienation and resentment among the Sikhs by simplifying the entire Sikh issues.
