India lost by 6 wickets in the fifth and final Test against Australia played in Sydney. This defeat was disappointing for Team India, especially because the absence of Jasprit Bumrah weakened the bowling attack. Bumrah, who took charge of the team in the absence of captain Rohit Sharma in the Sydney Test, could not bowl in the second innings.

Bumrah’s injury and impact on Sydney Test

After the lunch break on the second day of the Sydney Test, Bumrah could not take the field due to back spasms. He had taken two wickets in the first innings, but his injury stopped him completely.

  • First innings performance: Bumrah took two wickets.
  • Second innings: He was not available to bowl, due to which Australia easily chased the target of 162 runs.

Bumrah batted on the third day, but he was out for zero after playing just three balls. Talking about his injury, Bumrah said:
“Sometimes you have to respect your body. You can’t fight your body. It is disappointing that I missed bowling on probably the best wicket of the series.”

Bumrah’s brilliant performance in the series

Although Bumrah’s contribution was limited in the Sydney Test, he bowled lethally in the entire series. He won the Player of the Series title by taking 32 wickets.

  • Bumrah took important wickets in every match of the series and led the Indian bowling attack.
  • His performance became an inspiration for Indian cricket.

Sydney Test and team efforts

After the defeat, Bumrah said that the Indian team fought hard in the entire series. He praised the other bowlers, saying:
“Despite being one bowler short, the other bowlers took up the responsibility in the first innings. This morning also we talked about showing passion and maintaining faith.”

he adds:
“There were a lot of ifs and buts, but the entire series was fiercely contested. We were not out of the match, but remained in the game. That’s how Test cricket works – it’s important to create and withstand pressure.”

Bumrah’s opinion on young players and future

Bumrah appreciated the performance of the young players of the team and inspired them for the future. He said:
“There is a lot of talent in our team. Young players will learn from this experience. This series was great for him. “Even if we don’t win, this experience will help us move forward.”

Congratulations to Australia and the future of the Indian team

Australia lifted the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after 10 years, winning the series 3-1. Bumrah congratulated the Australian team for their excellent performance:
“Australia fought really well. Congratulations to him on his victory.”
