Beijing, 4 November (Hindustan Reporter). Japan won the IIHF Ice Hockey Women's Asia Championship by defeating China 5-0 at the Shougang Ice Hockey Arena in Beijing on Sunday.
Japan maintained control from the beginning, scoring 23 shots in the first period and taking an early lead with one goal. China tightened its defense in the second period, limiting Japan's scoring chances, but failed to close the gap.
In the final round, as China pushed hard to equalize, the home team's mistakes began to pile up, allowing Japan to score four more goals and capture the championship with a 5–0 victory.
Earlier on Sunday, Kazakhstan won the third place by defeating South Korea 5-4 in the penalty shootout.
The tournament included teams from China, Japan, South Korea and Kazakhstan. The tournament was played in a round-robin format over three days. The next edition will be hosted by Kazakhstan in 2025.
