Tokyo: There was a major cyber attack on the servers of Japan Airlines in Japan on Thursday morning, due to which the company had to stop the sale of tickets. The attack occurred at 7:24 a.m. local time, affecting both the company’s internal and external systems.
Japan Airlines informed that domestic and international flights may be delayed due to cyber attack. The company said that to resolve the issue, they temporarily shut down their routers, which caused the system to crash.
Impact on flights and ticket sales
The sale of tickets for all flights departing on Thursday has been stopped for the time being. The company issued a statement saying, “We understand the seriousness of the situation and are working to fix the system.”
However, Japan’s second major airline company ANA Holdings said that there is no sign of a cyber attack on their systems and their services are operating normally.
