Janjgir: Torch procession program organized on golden jubilee at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Janjgir Champa | News India

Janjgir-Champa, 3 September (HS). On the occasion of 50th anniversary of Krishi Vigyan Kendras, training was organized at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Janjgir Champa for Horticulture Rural Extension Officers of Horticulture Department and progressive farmers on disease and pest management of vegetable crops.

At the beginning of the program, the head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dr. Rajiv Dixit, while explaining the importance of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, informed that the first Krishi Vigyan Kendra was established by the Government of India in the year 1974 in Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu. Its objective was to introduce farmers to the latest technology, provide training to the extension officers of the Department of Agriculture, conduct field demonstrations and frontline demonstrations in the farmers' fields. Today, Krishi Vigyan Kendra is helping the farmers of the country to prosper and become self-reliant by fulfilling all these objectives as well as many other agricultural works. On the occasion of the golden jubilee of the establishment of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, the torch was handed over to the Director General of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research by the country's illustrious Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the same torch was handed over to the Director Extension Services Dr. S.S. Tuteja by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Girish Chandel, which reached Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Janjgir today via various Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Chhattisgarh, Raipur, Mahasamund, Bhatapara, Bilaspur.

During the Golden Jubilee torch procession today, the officials of the Horticulture Department and vegetable producing farmers were informed about the various pests and diseases that affect vegetables and the measures to prevent them. The plant pathologist of the center, Dr. Ashish Pradhan, gave information about the wilt disease that affects vegetables, especially tomatoes and brinjals, and entomologist Ranjit Modi also gave information about the measures of integrated pest control to prevent pests that affect vegetables. In the program, the head of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dr. Rajiv Dixit, handed over the Golden Jubilee torch to the head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Raigarh, Dr. B. S. Rajput for further journey. The program was conducted by Chandra Shekhar Khare and the vote of thanks was given by Engineer Ashulata Dhruv.
