Jamshedpur, 22 February (Hindustan Reporter). When Jamshedpur FC will host East Bengal FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24 match to be played at its home ground JRD Tata Sports Complex this evening, both the teams will aim to maintain themselves in the race for the playoffs.
Since the resumption of the league after the mid-season break, Jamshedpur FC have won eight points from four matches played and have moved up to sixth position with 17 points from 16 matches. The Red and Gold Brigade are eighth in the table with 15 points from 14 matches. They defeated Hyderabad FC 1-0 on Saturday, their first win in the last six ISL matches.
On the other hand, Jamshedpur FC scored four goals over Punjab FC and kept a clean sheet during the win, which further boosted their confidence. East Bengal FC defeated Jamshedpur FC 2-0 in the semi-finals of the Kalinga Super Cup.
Jamshedpur FC head coach Khalid Jamil admitted in the pre-match press conference on Wednesday, “We are training for the upcoming match as we do for every competition. East Bengal FC is definitely a very good team, and we will have to perform very well to get three points from this match.”
East Bengal FC's Spanish head coach Carles Cuadrat said before the match, “Most of the matches are difficult. Jamshedpur FC is a very good team that plays with a high level of intensity and our players will have to work hard in the upcoming match.”
So far 7 matches have been played between the two teams, in which both Jamshedpur FC and East Bengal have won 2 matches each, while three matches remained drawn.
