Jamshedpur, 4 November (Hindustan Reporter). Chennaiyin FC and Jamshedpur FC will look to recover from their previous defeat and will meet in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 match to be played at the JRD Tata Sports Complex this evening. Jamshedpur suffered a crushing 5-0 defeat to NorthEast United FC in their previous match while Chennaiyin FC were defeated 3-2 by Punjab FC in New Delhi.
In the upcoming match, Scottish head coach Owen Coyle and Farooq Choudhary and Daniel Chima Chukwu will be at their old ground against the former team. Coyle had led Jamshedpur to championship success in 2021-22.
Jamshedpur are undefeated in their last four matches against Chennaiyin at the JRD Tata Sports Complex. During this period, he has won one match and played three draws. Chennaiyin FC's only win (1-0) at this ground came almost seven years ago on December 28, 2017.
Jamshedpur FC has been performing consistently well at home this season with three consecutive home wins. He has scored at least two goals in every match.
Coyle has faced his former club Jamshedpur FC four times in the ISL, with two wins and two draws. Coyle's teams have scored 11 goals against Jamshedpur. Chennaiyin have made 26.5 crosses per match – the highest in the league.
Jamshedpur FC head coach Khalid Jamil feels that his team will put behind its crushing defeat at the hands of Highlanders and perform better.
Jamil said, “We have suffered a crushing defeat, so now is the time to try and improve and do better. We got enough time to think and improve on our mistakes and we will try to do better.”
Coyle praised his counterpart Jamil before the match. He stressed that praising his opponents does not mean he will not do everything possible to win three points.
He said, “Khalid is a great coach. Jamshedpur FC has given him an opportunity which he has grabbed. But we will make every effort to win the match.”
Both the teams have played 14 matches in ISL. Chennaiyin FC has won six times, while Jamshedpur FC has won three matches. Five matches are drawn.
