Udhampur: Four people died on the spot, while three were seriously injured in a tragic vehicle accident that took place on Monday morning at Chafkhani Maligam in Ramban district. Due to slippery road, the driver lost control and the Sumo fell into a deep ditch.
All three injured are undergoing treatment at PHC Ukhral. The deceased have been identified as Pogal residents Abdul Wahid Bali, Anayatullah, Muhammad Ayub Bali and driver Sajjad Ahmed.
According to the information, when the Tata Sumo going from Maligam to Tehsil Headquarters Ukhral reached Chafkhani Maligam at around 9 am in the morning, the driver lost control due to slippage on the road and the Sumo went off the road and fell into a ravine.
When the local people saw the vehicle falling into the ditch, they immediately started rescue operations. Four people died on the spot and three injured were taken to PHC Ukhral for treatment. Due to the hilly area, the local people had to put in a lot of effort to carry out the rescue operation.
Meanwhile, the police team also reached the spot. Udhampur police investigation revealed that both the deceased appear to be brothers. There is a wave of mourning in Pogal village after receiving the news of the death of four people. The villagers cannot believe that four people have died together.
Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Ghulam Nabi Azad has expressed grief over the accident through social media.
